Rob Fuller Set to Test Modified at Loudon

Looking to Rebound from Bad Luck in Season Opener at Thompson

STATESVILLE, N.C. (June 11, 2013) – Rob Fuller was looking for a solid start to his 2013 NASCAR Whelen Modified Tour season in the series’ season-opener at Thompson (Conn.) International Speedway in April, but what looked to be a very promising start ended in disappointment after he was collected in a wreck midway through the race.  Looking to rebound and bring new sponsor 15-40 Connection a top finish Fuller and team are set to test at New Hampshire Motor Speedway (Loudon, N.H.) on June 20 in preparation for the Town Fair Tire 100 on Saturday, July 13.

“The Town Fair Tire 100 is a huge race for both Rob Fuller Motorsports and 15-40 Connection,” said Fuller. “This will be the first NASCAR event for our sponsors at the 15-40 Connection, so we are really putting in an extra effort to make it a great experience for Mr. C and everyone at that great organization.”

Fuller and his RFM team have had a lot of work to do to their No. 15 15-40 Connection machine since their first race of the season in the Icebreaker at Thompson.  With a fast car throughout practice and a promising race run, Fuller was biding his time in the 12th position on lap 62 when he was caught in a wreck ending his day early and severely damaging his modified car.  While running two-wide, on the outside, going into turn one another driver behind Fuller’s No. 15 on new tires got a run making it three-wide.  With the tight corners at Thompson the three drivers ran out of room and Fuller, who was pegged on the outside, was hit and sent into the wall.  The wreck damaged the front clip and the RS rail of Fuller’s No. 15 machine.

“We had a great 15-40 Chevy at Thompson and were patiently waiting for the last 30 laps to show our hand,” explained a frustrated Fuller. “Unfortunately, with the Modified Series you have guys that unplug their brain when they plug in their helmet. To wreck three-wide on lap 60 is just plain stupid. The driver that made that move needs to evaluate his talent level before he destroys more racecars. We are working hard to get the car back together and come back to Loudon even better than we were.  I am confident we will have a great day and keep our 15-40 Chevy at the front of the pack.”

With all the damage that needed to be fixed, Fuller and his RFM team have been hard at work getting the car put back together, but a solid test to shake down the car at Fuller’s home track, Thompson Intl. Speedway, and the upcoming test at NHMS has Fuller feeling very confident.

“The Loudon test on June 20th will be a great test for us.  There will be ten cars there so we should really know where we are at by the end of the day. Loudon is such a HUGE race for our team and 15-40 Connection.  We are working extremely hard to put on a good showing and solid finish with our 15-40 Connection Chevrolet.

While it will only be the second race of the season for Fuller, the Town Fair Tire 100 is the sixth stop of the season for the NASCAR Whelen Modified Tour.
